Monaco

The Principality: Hôtel de Paris, Casino, F1 Grand Prix.

: Journey :

Jet to Nice · helicopter to Monaco

Monaco, the Principality, is reached via FFGR Jets to Nice Côte d'Azur, then by helicopter (seven minutes to Monaco Heliport) or by road (forty-five minutes by autoroute, or the scenic Moyenne Corniche). Highlights of the calendar: the Monaco Grand Prix (late May), the Monaco Yacht Show (late September), and the discreet shoulder season of October-November when the harbour clears and Casino square reopens to residents.

: The Grand Account :

Monaco occupies barely two square kilometres, yet it has held Europe's attention since the Grimaldis first took the Rock in 1297. The Principality perfected a particular alchemy in the Belle Époque, sea, stone and sovereign discretion, and has refined it ever since. Mornings here begin with the rattle of halyards in Port Hercule; evenings end beneath the gilded ceilings of the Casino de Monte-Carlo, where Charles Garnier's architecture still presides. The world's most private fortunes keep apartments here not for spectacle but for its opposite: a small, walkable sovereignty where everyone is known and nothing is said. In May, the Grand Prix briefly lifts the veil. The rest of the year belongs to its residents.

FFGR reaches the Principality most elegantly by air: a private jet from Farnborough to Nice Côte d'Azur, where your chauffeur waits beside the Rolls-Royce Cullinan for the half-hour run along the Basse Corniche, the Mediterranean unspooling beside you. Those with time to spend prefer the continental route, Eurotunnel Le Shuttle from Folkestone with the car aboard, then an unhurried descent through Burgundy and Provence, paced over a night at your choosing. No handovers, no introductions repeated, no preferences explained twice, simply the journey, held by one pair of hands.

Stay at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, where the cellars beneath the Place du Casino have matured wine since 1874. Dinner is Le Louis XV: Alain Ducasse, the Riviera's grand statement, or something simpler on the terrace of the Café de Paris as the square turns gold. Days are arranged quietly: a morning at the Thermes Marins, an afternoon launch from the Yacht Club de Monaco, an hour among the Prince's car collection. Your chauffeur navigates the Principality's compressed geography with the precision it demands, the Cullinan always a discreet few metres away. Monaco is small. Lived correctly, it feels limitless.
