Heathrow VIP — The Windsor Suite, the Tarmac, and the Chauffeur's Part
The Windsor Suite by PS, tarmac transfers and fast-track at Heathrow: what the VIP experience truly involves, and how the FFGR chauffeur completes it.
Heathrow is the busiest international airport in Europe — some eighty million passengers a year moving through four terminals, and very nearly all of them experiencing the same airport. There exists, in parallel, another Heathrow: one with no queues, no concourses and no announcements, entered through a discreet gate off the airport's perimeter and known to a small number of travellers for whom the standard premium cabin experience, however refined, is not the point. The Windsor Suite by PS occupies its own building beside Terminal 5, though it serves passengers flying from any terminal and any airline. Its lineage is royal in the literal sense: the facility grew out of the suites historically reserved for the Royal Household and visiting heads of state, and it retains that founding logic — the passenger never enters the terminal at all. On departure, the sequence is quietly remarkable. The car arrives not at a drop-off lane but at the suite's own gated entrance. Luggage disappears at the kerb and is next seen at the destination. Security screening is conducted privately within the building; border formalities likewise, by officers who come to the suite. What remains is an hour or so in a private room — fine dining served at table, and, should the passenger wish, pieces from the terminal's boutiques brought to the suite for consideration. There is no gate, because the passenger is not going to a gate.
Instead, there is the tarmac. When the aircraft is ready, the passenger is driven across the apron in a dedicated car and delivered to the foot of the aircraft steps or the door of the airbridge — boarding last, after the cabin has settled. On arrival into Heathrow the film runs in reverse: the car waits beside the aircraft, the passenger is met at the door before the rest of the cabin has stood up, and is driven to the suite, where immigration is completed in an armchair while the luggage is retrieved and sent ahead. From aircraft door to motorway, the elapsed time is routinely shorter than the walk from a B-pier gate to passport control.
Access is by reservation and is open to any traveller, on any airline and in any cabin class, subject to availability — these are eight suites at an airport of eighty million passengers, and peak periods are booked well ahead.
